2NE1 will be part of 2011 Mnet Asian Music Awards in Singapore

We are pleased to share more exciting news for K-Pop fans in Singapore! This year’s 2011 Mnet Asian Music Awards will be held in Singapore on November 29, at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
For the second time, this major award show would be held outside of Korea. Last year’s award show was staged in Macau at The Venetian and boosted an impressive line up of 80 acts featuring Big Bang, 2NE1,Miss A and award presenters such as Yoon Eun Hye.
As informed by the local organizer, on the same day of the award show, fans around Asia can also catch it on television. Some networks will be having a live broadcast while others could have a 2-hour delayed telecast. Fans from Singapore may watch this on Channel U (2-hour delay telecast).
Ticketing details are still being worked out. Interested Soompiers may wish to follow Mnet’s MAMA page onFacebook or stay tuned to our site for updates. The organizer would be issuing an official press release very soon.

Billboard Amerika meluncurkan K-pop Chart

Billboard chart yang dianggap sebagai sebuah tonggak untuk memahami arus musik pop dunia dengan pengaruh serta tradisinya, telah meluncurkan K-pop chart. Pada tgl. 25 bulan lalu, Billboard K-pop hot 100 telah diumumkan untuk pertama kali di New York dan di Seoul sekaligus. Hal ini merupakan peristiwa yang mengagumkan karena waktu peluncurannya bersamaan dengan permulaan popularitas K-pop di pasar Amerika setelah di Asia, Eropa dan Amerika Selatan.

Pada saat ini, Billboard mengumumkan urutan lagu pop dari 20 negara termasuk Jepang, Australia, Inggris, Jerman, Prancis selain Amerika Serikat. Pihak Billboard mengatakan mereka menilai tinggi kemungkinan perkembangan K-Pop pada masa mendatang, sehingga mereka meluncurkan chart K-pop hot 100 untuk kedua kali di Asia berikut chart Jepang.

Sementara itu, pada minggu ke-4 bulan Agustus, ‘So Coo’l’ dari SISTAR menduduki urutan no. 1 dengan mengalahkan 2NE1 dan MISS A. Hasil minggu pertama September ini ‘I turned off the TV’ dari Leessang menduduki peringkat no.1 dan So Cool berikutnya.

YASHUSHI Akimoto alias Aki-P, nampaknya ingin memperluas jaringan grup 48 ke penjuru Asia. Produser yang mengorbitkan grup vokal AKB48, SKE48, SDN48, dan NMB48 ini berencana membentuk kelompok vokal dengan konsep serupa di Indonesia. Rumornya, audisi personel girlband yang satu ini telah dimulai Senin (22/8) lalu.
Seperti dicatat Welshjapanotaku, Selasa (23/8), grup yang dinamai JKT48 ini merupakan afiliasi langsung dengan AKB48, serta hasil proyek kerja sama Dentsu bersama AKS. Nama JKT48 itu sendiri diambil dari singkatan Jakarta dan 48.
Audisi pertamanya belangsung 22-26 Agustus, yang dilanjutkan dengan sesi kedua pada 5-16 September mendatang.
Para partisipann harus memenuhi sejumlah syarat, seperti berusia 13-18 tahun, berdarah Indonesia, cantik, fotogenik, dan berbakat.
Kemampuan para peserta audisi yang lolos akan digodok hingga November nanti dan diakhiri dengan konferensi pers.
Apakah Aki-P akan datang menemui anak didiknya yang baru atau tidak, belum diketahui secara pasti.
Selain di Indonesia, AKB48 juga berencana “membuka cabang” di Taiwan dengan nama yang cukup sederhana, Taiwan48.

SNSD Sooyoung’s sister reveals, “She could have died in the accident”

SNSD’s Sooyoung was recently involved in a car accident, from which she sustained a sacrovertebral fracture that forced her to halt all her activities.
On August 31st, SBS’s ‘One Night of TV Entertainment‘ aired their report about Sooyoung’s car accident, which included an interview with her sister, musical actress Choi Soojin.
To recap, Sooyoung was traveling through the Gyeonbu expressway on August 28th when her car was struck by another vehicle after the other drive tried to cut into Sooyoung’s lane.
Sooyoung was en route to participate in volunteer activities for the visually impaired.
Sooyoung’s sister revealed the seriousness of the accident as she stated, “She bled a lot. At the time of the accident, I was so shocked that I thought she was going to die“.
She continued, “Sooyoung has a cracked tailbone. There’s no exact treatment or cast for it, so she needs to rest. She probably won’t be able to participate in a few schedules. If the stage doesn’t require extreme movements, Sooyoung is committed [to participating] and is wondering if she can still be involved without moving a lot“.
